May was a busy month in our Valley. Our May Stated Meeting was an overwhelm-ing success. Our own Mike Selix 32° KCCH made an outstanding presentation on the El Bekal Shrine after dinner. Brother Arturo Covarrubias 32° gave us a fascinating presenta-tion on Freemasonry in Mexico. This was the first speaker in our new series organized by Brother Andrew Todd 32°. Look for another speaker to be announced for our September Stated Meeting.

We have our Fall Reunion coming up in October. Please talk up our dynamic Valley with your Blue Lodge Brothers. Petitions for membership are available on our Scottish Rite of Orange County web-site. Also, we have petitions at the OCSR office that we can provide to you. New members are the life-blood of our Valley and our fraternity. If every member of our Valley speaks to several Master Masons at their Lodge meeting about the rewards of Orange County Valley membership, we can easily have a Reun-ion class of 10 or more candidates in the fall.

Our June 3rd Stated Meeting will be followed with our Cap & Ring Ceremony for our new Masters of the Royal Secret. Please stay for dinner after the meeting and support our new Brothers at our ceremo-ny. Enjoy your summer.

A Message from the General Secretary – November 2018

Brethren:

The holiday season starts this month and is a busy time for all of us. Right now in early November, our Supreme office is sending out dues reminders for 2019 and prior years outstanding dues. If you are already fully paid up through 2019, you will not receive a notice. Otherwise, you should be receiving them in the mail soon. Supreme uses a cutoff date to check payments received close to the mailing date. If you receive a dues notice and you know that you are paid through 2019, please call the office and we will gladly help you.

Congratulations to all of our Brothers who participated in the Fall Reunion. The ritual work was uniformly superb. If you haven’t attended a Reunion recently, make a strong effort to watch degrees at the Spring Reunion in 2019. It will be a rewarding experience reconfirming why you became a Scottish Rite Mason. We welcomed 2 new Brothers as Masters of the Royal Secret. They are Brother Jose Rivera 32° and Brother Nicolai Lacson 32°. These new Brothers will be receiving their caps and rings at our Ceremony at the dinner following our stated meeting on November 5th. Please make a point of attending this event and meeting our new Brothers.

May you and your families have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Fraternally,

Jamie Hopkins 32°

Message from the General Secretary – October 2018

Brethren,

First, I want to thank you, the brethren of the Valley, for giving me the opportunity to serve as your new General Secretary. I also want to thank Ill. Frank Loui 33° SGIG for placing his trust in me to perform the duties of this office. Our retiring Secretary, Ill. Bob McNamara 33°, has been exceptionally helpful to me in this time of transition. He is unsparingly generous in his time. Bob personifies the Masonic ideal of service. Also, Ill. Lloyd Clayton 33° and Brother Russ Albright 32° are extremely helpful in our office. My aim is to maintain the high standards that have been es-tablished in the Valley of Orange County office.

By now, most of you should have received your dues notice for 2019 membership. This can be paid online, via mail, or you can bring your dues payment to our October Stated Meeting. Many brothers have already paid by one of these methods and we thank you.

I am open to hearing your new ideas on duties handled by the General Secretary’s office. Right now, I plan on being in the office on Monday and Friday mornings. Our OCSR office phone number remains 714-543-7277. I look forward to serving our Valley and helping it grow with your help.

Fraternally,

Jamie Hopkins 32°
