Ill. Ralph C. Shelton II, 33°
By now, many of you have learned that our Sovereign Grand Inspector General, Most Worshipful and Illustrious Frank Loui, 33°, has stepped down from his post due to pending medical issues. Please keep him and his wife Jeanie in your prayers.
Now, Grand Commander Cole will determine who will serve as the Deputy of the Supreme Council to lead the Orient of California, the largest Orient in the Southern Jurisdiction. Of course, the selection will have an impact on Scottish Rite Masonry in California, while, for the moment, our Valley remains “Business as Usual”. I am confident that the future is bright, and whomever is selected as our new SGIG, we will build on the accomplishments of the past several years.
2025 is unfolding nicely, with fraternal events, Reunions and programs that will drive engagement and growth. I am proud of our Valley’s development, and excited for the future under the leadership of our Heads of Bodies. This month I highlight our Knights of Saint Andrew (KSA).
The KSA first arrived in California in our Valley. After a time, it became inactive here, while it continued in other Valleys. Our Knights have organized and become active again, and under the capable leadership of Bro. Matt Schrader, First Knight, has both purpose and impact. Our knights are engaged in Masonic education through the Master Craftsman program, each of them starting with the Ivory Key course, in which I encourage every member of the Valley to consider enrolling. This course provide valuable information regarding basic Scottish Rite history, administration and philosophy, and is provides a foundation for your further Masonic education. Even long time members of the Rite will benefit from the course., so visit www.MasterCraftsmanCollege.org now and view the available resources and courses.
As always, I look forward to seeing each of you at the next meeting.
