Operation The Rite Christmas

My Brothers and Ladies,

Just a quick word to thank everyone who participated in the Operation The Rite Christmas’s event for your generosity and time. The event hosted on Saturday November 17th was a total success! Together we wrapped over 60 gifts for the children of the Language Center, so Mr. Santa Claus could distribute them on Monday December 3rd, during the Scottish Rite Holiday Dinner. We are certain these gifts will uplift the spirits of every child attending the Language Center during this very special holiday season. Once gain, thank you for being part of this very special event and for making a difference in the life of our Language Center children.

Once gain, thank you for being part of this very special event and for making a difference in the life of our Language Center children.

If you missed this event don’t worry, another “Rite” operation will come soon! As I say, the Rite is here to stay!

Fraternally yours,

Operation: The Rite Backpacks

My Brothers,

Masonry’s cornerstone is charity and in the Scottish Rite, this charitable energy is focused in the support of our Language Center. It is our privilege to provide for this organization and we are always looking for new ways to help our children. We want to show how much we truly care about their develop- ment, their quality of life, but most importantly, about their happiness.

This brings me to our first event this year, Operation “The Rite Backpacks”. Thanks to generous contributions from brothers in our Valley, we have secured funding to provide each child attending the Language Center with a nice backpack, full of the “right” grade-appropriate education supplies, in order to achieve academically.

To make this event fun, brothers and ladies contributing to this operation will be invited to an evening event, where together, we will work on getting all these backpacks assembled for formal presenta- tion to the Language Center. All backpacks will be distributed to children receiving assistance from organ- ization. Many of the supplies needed for success will be found inside each of these backpacks, all except for a trowel, as that implement is for us to keep, so we can continue to spread our brotherly love and affec- tion towards this great center.

If you missed out on this opportunity to give, hang on tight, future “Rite” events will be announced soon. Yes, the “Rite” is here to stay! The Language Center is our Philanthropy, our duty, but most importantly, our unspoken obligation.

Fraternally yours,

Frankie Rosario, 32°

Membership Cards, Dues, and 2013

The Supreme Council has mailed out the dues notices for 2013. We have received the membership cards for 2013 so will be able to mail them to you on receipt of your dues. The Life Members received a dues no-tice with a zero balance and it is hoped that they will still find it in their hearts to donate to the Almon-er’s Fund, Childhood Language Center and the Orange County Masonic Memorial Foundation. Their 2013 membership cards will be mailed in October.

An update on the dues for 2012 shows that there are 128 active members of the Valley that have not sent in their dues. This represents a total of $14,260.50 is dues receivable and is money that the Valley could really use. Within the 128 active members, there are 23 members that owe two or more years. Check your wallet and see if you have a 2012 membership card and if not, send in your dues and we will quickly and cheerfully send you your membership card.

From a Fellow

On March 9 and 10th a group from Santa Ana Scottish Rite attended the 2012 Leadership Conference; Mission Possi-ble, in San Diego put on by the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Mike Selix 32°, James Segerstrom 32° and Daniel Willerton 32° attended the Fellows workshop where we discussed the lessons of the 4th degree of the Scottish Rite and new ways to communicate, share ideas, and improve the Valley membership experience.

The Sovereign Grand Commander, Illustrious Ronald A. Seale, 33° led the class of 28 fellows through a series of exercises to increase awareness of Valley needs. After the class had chiseled away the excess of the Scottish Rite all that remained were the relationships of Valley members. It is the relationships that must be improved upon if a Valley is to grow. Our Valley, Brothers, increases and decreases based on the relationships we choose to build. Who best can work and best agree has always been the key to the success of Freemasonry.

So how do we improve our relationships? We implement more opportunities for newly made Scottish Rite Masons to get involved. By creating new events and improving programs we can break up the mundane cycle of stated meeting, dinner, meeting, dinner. We can choose to actively engage the lessons of the Scottish Rite. We must also create more educational events that are open to all Masons in the area. Find time to visit the Childhood Language Center, your presence alone can prove to a child that Scottish Rite Masons care about their success.

In the last two months we have created two new Facebook pages for the Valley and the Knights of St. Andrew. These pages are open to every one and will keep the younger members of the Valley engaged as they come in. The Knight’s of St. Andrew have also begun taking steps to form their own line of officers and will be holding separate meetings in the near future. These meetings will give the younger members of the Valley an opportunity to become involved right away while the Valley will see an increase in support from the Knights.

Help us create a Valley that others turn to for guidance,

Daniel Willerton 32°

Stated Meeting Program: Personal Computer Security

Our May Stated Meeting program will be on personal computer security. It will be presented by Wayne Folsom 32°, who works for a major corporation where he writes and markets cyber security to our government and other major businesses.

His cutting edge insight into this fascinating world of electronic technology and communication is something you won’t want to miss. His presentation will be at 8:00p.m., after our dinner, so the ladies can also attend. There will be a question and answer period after the presentation.

Another Master Craftsman Completion

James Segerstrom 32° received his Master Craftsman I certificate and pin at the April Stated Meeting. He is one of many that have completed the first course and is now working on Master Craftsman II.

There is an availability to start a Master Craftsman workshop on a monthly basis to help and encourage progression and completion of both I and II. It seems difficult to find a night or morning to hold a workshop as everyone seems to be committed to something. If you are interested in a workshop, let me know of the times that you are available and I will try to put it together. We will be able to go over the test questions, grade them and then send them in for a faster turnaround time.

You can contact me at the Scottish Rite Office 714 543-7277, my cell 714 381-2949 or my email, macsquest@aol.com.

Scottish Rite Masonry is known at the University of Masonry and this, my Brothers, is one of the opportunities for further light.
